HIGHWAY TO HELL - NOW AND THEN

Martyn * Tangus * Rod * Tim * Chris

2010 MARKS 5 AMAZING YEARS for this dedicated group of musicians that live and breathe the greatest band in the world AC/DC!!

Since 2004 the Florida based AC/DC tribute band, Highway to Hell, has been on a Rock and Roll mission! That mission is to provide the best, most Authentic AC/DC Tribute show for Events, Clubs, and Large Venues.

Our Story -

After working so hard in local bars and clubs for over a year, the band got a big break and were picked up by Florida Booking Agency Maximum Bands and were immediately added as support act for a tour of Florida in late 2005 with Nicko McBrain of Iron Maiden!

This tour put the target in sight..play the biggest stages and the best shows in Florida. So in early 2006 Highway to Hell was chosen to rock the massive festival called “Gasparilla” in Tampa on the 98Rock stage opening for Drowning Pool and Days of the New. It was an incredible night as the band blew away thousands! Then the band was set to push to even higher goals in 2006 opening for acts like Jani Lane of Warrant on FL tour dates, playing the huge outside St. Pete Times Forum stage in front of thousands before the Poison - Cinderella concert, playing with acts like Lillian Axe and Firehouse, more Forum shows for Sebastian Bach, Guns and Roses, Papa Roach and other killer National Acts. Opening for national acts wasn’t the only first for Highway to Hell. They amazed Boot Hill Saloon and Suck Bang Blow management so much so that they locked them in for future shows on the spot at Daytona Bach Bike Week and Biketoberfest and Myrtle Beach Rally’s.

These gigs set the stage for more to come in 2007 opening for Fuel at Gasparilla, more Bike Fests than you can imagine highlighted by 3000 a night shows in Myrtle Beach, and Boot Hill Saloon literally having to close the gate at Bike Week because they couldn’t fit any more fans to our shows! Gigs were getting bigger and more exciting every month! Plus the band did a number of large festival shows for children’s charities like Thunder By The Bay and helping to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars at Giving Hunger the Blues in Sarasota FL.

Then early December of 2007, the call came to head down to Sarasota as the boys were invited by our very good friend Caroline with the Five O’Clock Club (a great bar in Sarasota we’ve rocked many times) and members of AC/DC themselves to a special event. Little did they know Rod and Martyn would be asked to join Brian Johnson and Cliff Williams on stage! Brian Johnson asked Martyn to sing...then Martyn tore into “Highway To Hell” and Rod rocked along side one of his idols in front of a huge crowd. Brian and Cliff were so gracious and cool and both complimented the boys. It’s a memory that will last a lifetime.

2008 was an incredible year as well for the boys, as we were headline act at the massive “Thunder By The Bay” again in Sarasota and played as the headline act this time in front of over seven thousand folks at Gasparilla in Tampa! Plus gigs playing notable venues like House of Blues with the Metal Legends show (Thanks Dennis!), Largo Cultural Center, jamming in Orlando with Members of Guns and Roses, Rob Zombie, and LA Guns (Thanks Larry!)! Soon the band would flying internationally, and thousands of miles across the US! Thanks to Victor for bringing us to play the Hard Rock Cafe in Santo Domingo and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic! That was an incredible experience!

2009 - The Highlight of the year has to be the Leesburg Bike Fest. Little did we know the Bud Stage would be so huge and there would be a rabid awesome huge crowd like there was. One of our best gigs ever hands down! But could it get better? Yes! Ronan Montana? Yep we played there!...we want to thank Tracy, Normal Bean, and Walter for bringing us to your wonderful town and the hospitality was superb. What a show too! And riding the Jet Skis on Flathead Lake...wow! Montana is a beautiful awe inspiring place. Make a point of going there!

We also played “Giving Hunger the Blues” in front of over 6000 folks in Sarasota for the 3rd year straight. Thanks to George and Caroline for having us. It’s a great children’s charity and we are happy to do it anytime. In fact we’ve played quite a few family friendly events and it amazes us still how the kids know AC/DC songs! Notable 2009 shows include Charley O’Corley’s in Valdosta GA (what a great crowd of college kids), and one of the last shows at Jannus Landing.

But the story doesn’t end there.

Already 2010 promises to be fantastic as we start the year off with 2 Huge Bike Festivals! Gibtown Bikefest is a new one for us, then Thunder By The Bay for the 3rd year!

Overall it’s been a fantastic ride! We’ve been featured in several magazine and newspaper articles, made front page of Creative Loafing in Tampa, and were mentioned in several radio adds. It’s still all so unbelievable.

Thanks to all of the fans and all of those involved with H2H from the beginning up until now..

WE SALUTE YOU!
